I am privileged to serve as the State Representative for Melrose and Wakefield. I have been fighting hard everyday for our issues on Beacon Hill.
Over the past few months, I have helped solidify funding in the FY2012 House Budget for many services that our communities depend on. I have co-sponsored an amendment that level funds Adult Day Health, so that our Dutton Center in Wakefield can continue to provide our seniors with a place that allows them to remain active in society. The Mass Cultural Council, which funds many cultural arts programs in our elementary schools, has also received funding in the FY2012 House Budget that will allow it to continue providing Melrose and Wakefield with projects that encourage our community to be creative and inspirational.
Earlier this year, I petitioned for several pieces of legislation that will hopefully provide not only our communities, but the entire Commonwealth, with new laws that will make Massachusetts a better place for us and our children to live in the future. To name a few, I have filed legislation that will create a Commission on Elder Protective Services, so that we can be better prepared to protect our elderly from financial exploitation and abuse. Also, I have filed a bill that aims to further protect our children from child pornography. I have co-sponsored legislation with our Senator, Katherine Clark, that aims to make all children in the Commonwealth proficient readers by the third grade. I will work tirelessly to ensure that these bills will be passed in the legislature this session.
My office will always be available to you. Please do not ever hesitate to contact my office, should you ever need my assistance.
I look forward to keeping you updated on my progress.
Sincerely,
